I am now 4 months post op for a permanent urostomy. Stoma is holding up with no blockage. Back to my usual, busy routine. Still suffering with chronic diahrea, but RX lomotil is keeping it in check. Weight is stable and energy level is good. No more UTIs! Hurray!

Photos shows stoma right after surgery (Right) and 8 weeks post-op(Left) with reduction in side from 1 inch to 1/4 inch. Concerned it might close up entirely before my follow up appointment with Dr. Breyer in April. Emailed his office for a comment.

Urotomy Appliance Change with a twist
Changing my urostomy appliance was a bit of a pain as it is always outputting urine which would get on my skin and cause irritation. Solution: make a funnel out of a toilet paper roll. Problem solved! I hope you find this trick helpful for urostomies and iliostomies and even colostomies.
